I think, it's better to use original part (pipe) in this case. If you don't want to make it better in some way, why invent thing which is invented? BTW: Original pipe is normal steel pipe with zinced surface. And I don't think that copper pipe is lighter than the original one. If yes, the weight difference is very small.
About the plastic pipes: It's not easy to bend and adjust them to the right position as the original pipes.
Rubber hose: It's soft and easy to assembly, BUT when it's not special hose or is bended too much in one point, it can break when hot and cooling water will stop circulate. (happened to me).
So, if I were you, I would buy new original pipes, paint them and use some antifrost liquid (which is antirust of course).

I prefer an original metal pipepes because they are original :-)) I don't know anybody, who are usign rubber pipes, but somebody use plastic or coper pipes. The coper pipes is lighter, it is easy to solder him to make useful profile and it stands high preasure and temperature.

Hello,
I have to replace the pipes that connect the engine with the cooler of Skoda Rapid. Original pipes are metal pipes (aluminium I think). Now I think about what pipes I can put there - I have three options:
1. Original metal pipes.
+ they are original
- they are not corrosion resistant
- difficult to fit - especially the front pipes above the rack and pinion
2. Rubber hoses. I think about oil hose with the same diameter as the metal pipes. I hope it will be chemically and temperature resistent.
+ it will be one long hose from the cooler to the engine, no need to connect metal pipes
+ can be fit more easily
3. Some kind of plastic pipes.
+ lighter
+ no corrosion
- not very easy to fit them, have to bend them to the right shape to fit
But I see that in PM Autosport they fit metal pipes from one end to the another as so the rubber hose part is minimal. Maybe they do it because metal pipes can stand greater pressure? I think about rubber hose which stands pressure of 0.63MPa. Maybe this will not be enough? And in general - which way would you prefer and why?
