-> tony_: For example Tom.t here on virt sells Skoda Rapid shell (skoda-virt.cz/cz/.../). It's little different from Skoda 120 new type shell. He says that body shell is in good condition. His price is 2500 SKK ( = cca 2200 CZK). Shell is now located in east slovakia.



This shell is almost compatible with your engine, axles, but it's recommended to mount wide front and rear axle (Skoda new type) into this shell else your car will look like train (wide shell, narrow axles) and won't have good stability.

In CZ and SK it's not a big problem, but it's problem to find body shell in good condition which is for sale. Another problem is that I don't know if is possible to export such body shell (in SK the only identification mark of car is VIN typed in front par of car under front hood).



But your friend must (should) get same type of bodyshell as he has now. If he find body shell of newer type (1984 and newer) his current axles (1982) are too narrow for wider body shell and car will be more unstable while steering. To the newer body he should mount also new wider front axle with new steering type and wider rear axle.

i`ve talked to my friend and he asked me if i know somewhere he could find a body shell in better condition (without much rust on it) and unhitten...

Can you tell me something about this thing?

Most spare parts for 135 engine are available, because this engine is nearly identical to engine of Favorit 135. There are some minor differences, but in my opinion they wouldn't be relevant for buying spare parts.



Deep battery hole is relevant only if you mount rear axle with dry half-axles (newer type). 5-speed gearbox can be mounted with both types of axles (wet half-axles, dry half-axles) but if gearbox was previously mounted with dry type, some changes will be necessary to mount it on wet axle. Of course, if you try to mount 5-speed gearbox with dry axle, you also need this complete rear axle and chassis beam for 5-speed gearbox with mount points for dry rear axle.

for the other problem my question was if the gearbox and all it`s components can be fitted because the car has the big space for the battery....

Is not possible to mount 5-speed gearbox into Skoda made before 1983, because this bodyshell has some chassis beams placed in way which collides with larger 5-speed gearbox.



If you want place 5-speed gearbox in this car you must change this beam. Some bodyshells made between 1983-1984 (sept. 1982 - sept. 1983) are capable of mounting 5-speed gearbox, some not (in this year Skoda migrated from production of classic Skoda 105/120 to production of modernized Skoda 105/120). All bodyshells made after 1984 (~ sept. 1983) should be capable of mounting 5-speed gearbox (only if bodyshell was made far before completation of car and waited some time in deposit).



Before mounting 5-speed gearbox is sometimes need to change fuel tank from newer Skoda (not necessarily from 5-speed Skoda). It applies mainly to cars made before 1986 where sometimes was mounted fuel tank found somewhere laid ;) In car made before 1984 you must change tank always.



Other changes required for mounting 5-speed gearbox in place of 4-speed qearbox are similar to newer cars (after 1984, shortly marked as M).

Answer to your older question:

There was an 135 fuel injection engine made by Skoda. It was sold as Skoda 135GLi (sedan) or Skoda 135RiC (coupe). But was manufactured only few thousands of these cars and there are nearly none spare parts available for this type of engine.



Maybe you'll be able to buy second-hand injection unit and controlling unit (it's Bendix-Renix unit from Renault R-19 maybe), but I don't know, if Renault's software in Renix (controlling unit) is suitable for 135 engine. Also there is really pool knowledge about lambda sensor and other equipment of fuel-injected Skoda 135 and nearly everything is TOTALY unobtainable.

Engine S742.135 (Skoda 135) has 43kW (approx. 58 HP). Your engine S742.12X (Skoda 120LS) has 40,5kW (approx 55 HP).



The trouble is, that Skoda 135 engine has different exhaust and intake port (136 has 8-channel ports, 120LS has 5-channel ports). These ports are hardly obtainable in CZ and SK because of number of manufactured vehicles with these engines.



In my opinion, you shuld stay with your LS engine. If this engine is in good condition, it's power output is comparable to 135 engine.

You can detect type of head only by color of Skoda logo.

105 - black

120 - yellow

120LS - green

130 - brown



If you take cylinder head from cylinder blok, you can detect head by diametry of intake and exhaust valve, or by design of combusion space.

some types of engines has different position of cylinder. OO OO or OOOO

Does the gas injection improve higher performances on an 120 engine? is it mountable and what price is a second hand one....

-> tony_: There are two types of S120 exhausts. One is like a paper prized about 350CZK and second is more solid, heavier and more durable. Costs about 450CZK and lasts about 2x longer than the cheaper one. If you consider post tax, i would recommend the more expensive one.
